TIFF 2013 – Post-Festival

AKOP-Covers_TIFFpt3

With over 300 films and only eleven days, you’d think there’d be no time for All Kinds of Philler! This is the final episode of our coverage on the Toronto International Film Festival. Earl brings in Parker Mott again to reflect on the festival as a whole, as well as discuss Enemy, Mystery Road, Why Don’t You Play in Hell?, and 12 Years a Slave. They also compare their overall festival impressions, all the while fighting exhaustion and the lull after the thrill of watching films for eleven days.  (Note: Recorded at a semi-open restaurant, but background noise was kept as minimal as possible.)

Guests:
Parker Mott (@parkermott) – Writer & film critic for The Final TakeScene CreekMovie Knight

TIFF 2013 – Days 4 to 9

AKOP-Covers_TIFFpt2

With over 300 films and only eleven days, you’d think there’d be no time for All Kinds of Philler! This is the second episode of our coverage of the Toronto International Film Festival, with Earl bringing in Christine, a new guest to the show. They discuss their festival experiences so far and the movies they’ve enjoyed, such as Canopy, The Double, and Noah. They also talk about Spike Jonze, Jim Jarmusch, all over a wildly mismatched soundtrack, thanks to the bookstore’s PA system. (Note: Recorded at a bookstore, so you can ignore some ambient noise in the background.)

Guests:
Christine

02:30 – Why Don’t You Play in Hell?, Blue Ruin, Spike Jonze panel
10:50 – Canopy, The Double, Only Lovers Left Alive

They talk about some of the most-buzzed about films like Blue is the Warmest Color, 12 Years a Slave, and Palo Alto, as well as smaller fare like Unbeatable, Mystery Road, and Night Moves. They also recommend some choices if you plan to catch a movie at the last minute, or in theatres in the next few months. (Note: Recorded at a crowded line-up, but background noise was kept as minimal as possible.)
